The embryology laboratory at Instituto Bernabeu attends the Human Reproduction Refresher event held in Cuenca
Instituto Bernabeu participated in the 20th Human Reproduction Event held in Cuenca on 21st and 22nd March and organised by the European Fertility Institute. Reproductive medicine professionals from clinics in Madrid attended the event. The Head of the In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) Laboratory at Instituto Bernabeu in Madrid and Instituto Bernabeu biologist, Iván Ochando, attended the event where participants discussed, debated and were updated on matters within the field of assisted human reproduction.
Dr Herrero moderated one of the four work sessions. The session addressed developments in the field of ovarian stimulation, adjuvant therapy, ovulation induction and, where applicable, embryo culture, daily healthcare practice and the latest technology and developments in IVF laboratories.
The biologist from Instituto Bernabeu highlights how enriching this exchange of knowledge and experiences is for experts, as well as the different subjects that moderators put to attendees, generating active debate. Dr Leyre Herrero points out that the subjects that were addressed during the refresher event are very applicable to daily practice in clinics. With reference to laboratories in particular, discussions took place regarding culture media, types of incubators, embryo classification and legislation. With reference to events of this kind, she highlights the fact that “they facilitate exchanges between experts and that this undoubtedly helps us to improve each and every day.”
